Master Chef

Well I found out this week that my host dad is trying out for Master Chef France. I walked down for lunch last Sunday and they were taking pictures of the meal we were about to eat. My host sister was home for the weekend and she explained to me that he was going to try to be on the show. Apparently 3 million French people try out for it and he won’t find out if he made it until this summer. The meal he was submitting was a fish with three different sauces. It was really good, but it wasn’t incredible or anything. He did explain though that all of the ingredients came from Nantes, which I think made it more special. I thought they were kind of doing it as a joke because Charlotte, the host sister, kept kind of laughing at her dad and shooting me looks that I thought were like “can you believe this.” But then I went down for lunch again today and they started talking about it again. The son, Cyriaque asked his dad if he would just not work if he made it on the show. My host dad said that he wouldn’t work and Cyriaque started complaining that he didn’t want to be poor. Then my host dad responded that he would be famous though if he won Master Chef!! Haha So I guess he is truly trying out for it and everything. I’ll definitely tell everyone if he makes it hahaha
One of my friends, Virginia Cebe, is studying in Florence this semester and she came to visit us in Nantes this weekend. She and Claire have been best friends forever, so we were both so glad to see Virginia and show her around Nantes. We spent Friday afternoon drinking wine in our favorite park and then Friday night we went to one of our favorite creperies for dinner. It was delicious! Then that night we went out with some of our friends from IES and one of our French friends. It was a lot of fun!! Saturday we showed Virginia around Nantes and did a little shopping. We were planning on going to this other really good restaurant but it was sadly too crowded, so we went and ate at an Italian Restaurant.
I actually have an exam this week—it’s going to be weird trying to get into the swing of studying and everything. But next week is our winter break and I’m going to Rome and Florence! I am so excited I can hardly stand it!!!! It will be my first time visiting Italy!!
